Why_frumarco

Frumarco´s production is highly modern and meets all the food safety requirements of IFS Higher Level. Obviously, Frumarco processes fruit such as apples, pears and dates into fruit syrup, but basically the possibilities are countless. Frumarco can make concentrates of various sorts of fruit, vegetables and liquids.

Hereunder you can find the production process from start to finish.

Boiling

To squeeze juice out of hard fruit such as apples and pears, these fruits first have to be boiled for a long time. The fruit is boiled in large stainless steel kettles for 2 to 3 hours. During this boiling procedure, the juice colours brown. This is due to the Maillard reaction during which the sugar in the fruit colours brown.

Pressing

In a large press, the fruit mass is separated into juice and pulp, during which the fruit juice is pressed through filters, leaving the pulp behind in the filters. This pulp consists of hard fibres, seeds and stalks of the fruit. It is a very nutritious cattle feed.

Evaporation

The juice coming from the press is still very liquid and is perishable. Therefore it has to be thickened further. After the juice has been additionally clarified, it is evaporated. During this evaporation, 60% of the water disappears from the juice. Now it is a concentrate that can be stored and saved.

Storage

These concentrates are all stored separately in huge storage tanks. This is necessary as the fruit we’re processing is harvested from September till November. So in those months we have to build up the stock for a whole year! One tank can contain 25.000-620.000 kg concentrate!

Mixing

Fruit syrup is a mixture of several sorts of fruit. Everyday the concentrates are blended according to the various recipes to make the ultimate fruit syrups. During this blending process we carefully observe the fruit syrup.

Decantation

When the fruit syrup has passed the first inspections and has been found good, the decanting can begin. We can fill tubs, jars, tins, buckets, casks, containers or tankers.

After the decantation, the tubs, tins and jars with fruit syrup have to be left to cool before they can be packed in boxes. For this purpose, we have an air conditioned cold store that assures this happens in a uniform and accelerated way.

Warehouse

There’s room for 500 pallets in the warehouse. Consumer products are usually produced to build up a stock. All products made for business-to-business clients are generally produced to order by Frumarco and are sent directly to the client.
